What We Are Doing

Avista to Bury Vulnerable South Shore Power Lines

HLWA began a dialogue with Avista in 2020 about the south shore power outages during the increasingly regular inland northwest wind storms. Avista has funded a project set to begin this year bury a half mile of overhead power lines.

Excessive Wake Ordinance may be Repealed

May 3rd “Healthy Hayden Creek” Event

Volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a day of activities that will help reclaim a neglected patch of land that has negatively impacted water quality in Hayden Creek, the major tributary of Hayden Lake.

Wildfire Preparedness

HLWA is committed to bringing Wildfire Preparedness education to our watershed residents and property owners. Visit this page for preparedness tips and resources. With wildfire growing in frequency and severity throughout the western U.S., we find inland northwest blanketed smoke. We are offering tools to monitor the health risk of the smoke as well as the latest research on the contaminants it carries.

Protecting Hayden Creek

The contractor completed the berm between FSR 437 and the barrow pit this month. We will post photos of the project in March.
